There are several periodontal surgical materials available that, when appropriate, are used in an attempt to regenerate bone or attachment that has been lost due to periodontal disease or gum recession. Besides repairing a defect around a tooth, bone grafts can also be used around an existing dental implant, or to enhance the contour of the gums. Below is a list of some of the materials used in our office.
- Freeze-dried demineralized bone
- Bovine bone material
- Enamel Matrix proteins and Growth Factors
- Collagen Membranes
- Synthetic materials
All materials are
treated and safe for reimplantation and have been used in the medical
and dental fields for decades.
